A cross with the ballpen... on the notebook display

Suddenly the customs officer has a ballpen in his hand and before I am able to react, he makes a cross on the delicately notebook display.

1995-05-27:

On the way back from Cannes. Street signs are very rare in Italia. I can not find out where I am. At last I reach a border at a small mountain street. The border is closed and I don't know which of two possible borders it is.

I leave my car and knock at a house door. A customs officer comes out of the house.
Customs Officer: This border is closed from 8 pm until 8 am.
I drag my notebook out of the holster. I have my notebook all ways in suspend mode in the halter for fast action. I open my notebook. The Auto Route Express map becomes visible. I show the customs officer the display.

RM: Please tell me where I am. I can not find out where I am.
