PEGE Energy Simulation
Open-source multi-platform software to design our energy future. From the outcome of a house renovation up to communities with energy-intensive industry.
We started in April 2024 with the creation of a Perl program to simulate off-grid fast charging villages. Is it possible to half energy costs for mobility and transportation in Africa by off-grid fast charging villages? € 1.2 per liter Diesel vs. € 0.20 per kWh fast charging.
Our paper Cost optimization — the key to energy transition and climate protection at the CORP conference 2026 in Vienna was based on findings by further versions of this Perl program.
As I visited an old friend in Lower Austria, I wondered why my Tesla Y SR was only charging with 5 kW at his wallbox. The reason had been new grid fees in Lower Austria: the 15 minutes peak demand in kW is multiplied by € 56 for the yearly grid fees. The difference between 5 kW and 11 kW peak demand is 6 × € 56 = € 336. Even worse in Burgenland with € 76 per kW peak demand. A very good reason for a battery and a good EMS - Energy Management System.
We started in June 2026 with the design of a product series for old house energy improvement. How to demonstrate every possibility of improvement? How to calculate the financial outcome of every possible improvement?
We decided on 2026-09-28 for complete new software for this task in Python.
Only for objects with PV, a battery, a heat pump, and car charging. Interaction with the outside world by a spot market prices model and limits to import and export electricity.
Define multiple objects and their quantity. This will be called a community simulation. For example:
- 5000 GEMINI next Generation houses
- A fast charging station
- A power to methanol plant with a tank and a CCPP - Combined Cycle Power Plant
- Agricultural areas with peak demand for electric tractors
- A only electric-powered cement factory
We will implement in these simulations different industries.
