Visum problems: is she a safety hazard?

What??? Please repeat, there has to be something wrong. Visa is refused because she is a possible public molestation. A safety hazard for Austria.

1997-09-12: I found my great love just last week in Sibiu Romania

We waited at the Austrian embassy since Wednesday in Bukarest in order to get visa for Austria. Now it is Friday 3:00 p.m.. That is the time where Maria should get back her passport with the visa. On the backside of her passport is a note attached:

     Visa refused:
     §10(1)3 FrG
     §10(1)4 FrG with a check mark
     §10(2)  FrG with a check mark

I want to speak with the consul. I and Maria are waiting as all the other people waiting for their visa in front of the iron gate of the Austrian embassy. The man distributing the passports to the people takes my passport and Maria's passport and goes into the embassy.

Some minutes later appears the vice consul. (Shortcut VC)

RM: Why does Maria get no Visa?
VC: I am not allowed to tell You why. This is forbidden by the data protection law.
RM: There are 2 laws marked on the note on her passport. Could You tell me what this laws mean?
VC: I am not allowed to tell You anything about this laws. You have to ask a lawyer. Only a lawyer is allowed to give You information about laws.

I try several minutes to get some information, but it is a very hostile atmosphere. So I go with Maria to my car and I start to make some telephone calls. For luck, Romania has just joined the countries having GSM - Global System Mobile Communication, and so I can use my cellular telephone.

I phone the department for foreign police at the police in Salzburg. I ask there about the 2 laws marked on the note. I g et a lawyer on the other side.

RM: Please could You tell me what "§10(1)4 FRG" means?
HE: A momentum, I will check in the legal code.
(half a minute later)
HE: Here it is: A possible public molestation. A safety hazard for Austria.
RM: (very surprised) What??? Please repeat, there has to be something wrong.

I am shocked and think on all the encounters with Austrian politicans. Austria has a small squeaky government. This government is from the ÖVP (Austrian peoples party) and SPÖ (Sozialist party from Austria). They are total scared from Jörg Haider from the FPÖ (free party of Austria) who hates foreign people in Austria. They are so terrbile afraid because of the election successes from Jörg Haider, that they are not able to think clearly when they write new laws.

Jörg Haider is a nightmare for them. They write laws like they hear Jörg Haider speaking in their nightmares. And what comes out? A nightmare for me. I can not go with the woman I love to Austria, because she is declared as a possible public molestation. A safety hazard for Austria.
