Microsoft Access: too slow for the cash dispensers

At the completion of this time, the cash dispenser does not give the card back. Access 95 was simple to slow for the cash dispenser

1997-07-10: I think the Volksbank Freilassing has open until 4:30 pm.

Much traffic on the border between Austria (where i live in Salzburg) and Germany (where Freilassing is). So I arrive 4:35 pm. However makes nothing: the bank was closed since 4:00.

Oh, forgotten, but no problem. As usual I have my notebook ready to use in the holster. The notebook is there in suspend mode to avoid the Windows 95 remembering minute at starting.

I push the space bar to wake up the computer. Mouse Click on my database. The program monster starts to load into the small 24 MB RAM storage of my notebook. Already in the RAM are onle Explorer 4.0 and Outlock Express.

Until last year, I had Microsoft Access with my Mind 2 database always ready to use in the RAM. But together with the internet programs, this becomes very slow.

The display of the cash dispenser shows: Failure: not ready to work

I push the CANCEL button on the cash dispenser. I try to enter my secret number. Nothing works. My card does not come out of the cash dispenser.

I think that this could be a security feature at the cash dispenser: a time limit to enter the proper number. After completion of this time, the cash dispenser does not give the card back.
